Landcorp was created out of the Department of Lands and Survey in 1987. Landcorp's core business is pastoral farming including dairy, sheep, beef and deer. Landcorp operates 122 farming units totalling 376,156 hectares.
Traci Houpapa was appointed to the Landcorp Board in May 2010 and was appointed Chairman in May 2015 following nearly a year as acting Chairman. Traci also holds governance roles on the Waikato River Authority, Ngā Par O Te Māramatanga Centre for Research Excellence, Diverse NZ Inc, the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) National Advisory Committee and Strada Corporation, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, NZ Forestry Investments Limited, Pengxin NZ Farm Management Limited, Ururangi Limited and the Asia NZ Foundation.
Steven Carden, was the General Manager of PGG Wrightson Seeds Australia from 2010, prior to joining Landcorp in 2013. Steven began at PGG Wrightson in 2008 as Group Manager of Business Development, serving also on the NZTE Beachheads Advisory Board. From 2003 to 2008, he worked at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, in New York and Auckland advising companies throughout North America, Europe and Australia.
