Embracing Diversity and Customer Insight from the Checkout to the Boardroom

This series gives a unique insight into the dynamics of the Chairman/CEO relationship in the midst of large-scale transformation programs.

Chris Quin joined Food Stuffs North Island as CEO in September 2015 and is now immersed in the unique world of grocery. Prior to joining Foodstuffs Chris was CEO of Spark Home, Mobile and Business and led the business through the very successful rebrand from Telecom to Spark.

He held several other leadership roles at Spark and Gen-i Australasia (now Spark Digital) receiving in 2010 an Emerging Leader Award at the annual Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards and the Chairman’s Award at the TUANZ Innovation Awards.

Dean Waddell is currently Chair-Elect of Foodstuffs North Island taking over the Chair role in August 2017. Dean is also a Trustee of JWL Investment Trust (a trust he established in 2004).

Dean is a third generation grocer who began working in the family supermarket in Tauranga at the age of thirteen. He graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Business Studies before purchasing the family supermarket New World Brookfield in 1992.
