WINnovation - Women in Innovation series featuring Nicola Hazell, Director, Shestarts; Head of Diversity & Impact, BlueChilli

Nicola Hazell is one of Australia's leading voices on gender equality and social innovation. After more than ten years working in media and public affairs in the community sector, politics and television news, in 2016 Nicola joined startup and innovation group BlueChilli, to lead the development of a new open innovation program turbocharging female leadership in the growing startup economy.
In it's first year, the SheStarts program has invested $1 million supporting eleven female founders to get started, kicked off a world-class accelerator program and launched a documentary series to redefine what it means to be a tech entrepreneur. The program has received international recognition as a case study in best practice for inclusive entrepreneurship.
Nicola is a sought-after keynote speaker and social policy commentator, playing a key role in the global dialogue about inclusive entrepreneurship and gender equality and the future of work. She is a member of the OECD Expert Advisory Committee on Digital Transformation; a non-executive director of Australian campaigning and advocacy organisation, The Parenthood; and an Advisory Board member for AngelHack's LadyProblems global hackathon series.
As a strong advocate for collaboration and connectivity, she is also a regular mentor, coach and judge for various programs and awards including the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards, Telstra Business Awards, UTS Hatchery program for student startups, Springboard Enterprises accelerator for later-stage female founders, refugee and migrant business accelerator program Catalysr and the Foundation for Young Australian's Young Social Pioneers programs.

Recent 2017 speaking engagements include:
• Vogue Codes, Sydney, July 2017
• OECD Forum, Paris, June 2017
• Melbourne Knowledge Week, May 2017
• Myriad Festival, March 2017
• Wild Digital, February 2017
